How is transmission done?

There are two main routes of transmission of the COVID-19 virus: respiratory and contact, spread through saliva droplets / nasal discharge. Anyone who is in close contact with an infected person is subject to virus contamination (respiratory transmission). In addition, respiratory droplets can also be found on surfaces, where the virus is able to remain viable and therefore the environment becomes a source of transmission (contact transmission).

Can pool water kill the Coronavirus?

Yes! The COVID-19 virus is an enveloped virus, that is, it has an external membrane. Enveloped viruses are less stable in the environment and can undergo chlorinated water disinfection. To effectively disinfect the water, it is necessary that the concentration of free chlorine be ≥0.5 mg / L after less than 30 minutes of contact with pH <8.0. Usually, the recommended free chlorine concentration for swimming pools should be 2 mg / L, that is, about 4 times higher than the necessary to disinfect the water against the coronavirus. In addition to chlorine, heat, high or low pH, and sunlight are other factors that facilitate the death of the coronavirus. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
